We are independent Baptist missionaries, called of God, sent out by and under the authority of Maranatha Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma to go into Indonesia “…and preach the gospel to every creature.”
We are very excited to get back to Indonesia, preach the gospel, baptize believers, organize them into churches, and train Indonesian men to pastor and do the same!

Caleb Turk’s Salvation Testimony

Raised in a Baptist preacher family, I heard the Gospel my whole life. As a young child, I knew I was a sinner: I disobeyed, lied, and coveted—breaking God’s law.
A sermon on James 2:10 opened my eyes to my condition: one sin makes you guilty of all. There are no “little” sins in God’s eyes, and good works could not cleanse me—I couldn’t save myself. That evening’s message on Hell terrified me—”…all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire…” (Revelation 21:8; Mark 9:44). I heard that quote echoing over and over in my head, knowing that was talking about ME! I was heading to the lake of fire!
A clear presentation of the Gospel was given at the end: Christ died for my sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3–4). Salvation is God’s free gift by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 6:23; John 3:16).
Sadly, for what seemed like days, I struggled inside with my pride and fear of what others might think and it held me back: “What will they think? I’m supposed to be the good boy! If I get saved, then it’s just like admitting I was lost! People will laugh at me!”
Then, praise God, the Holy Spirit helped me to realize that my pride and perceived goodness was not worth an eternity in a devils’ Hell! After the service, I went to my dad (who was also my pastor), confessed I was a helpless sinner, repented, and believed in Jesus as my Savior. I most vividly remember saying at the end of my prayer, “Please keep your promise and save me!” AND HE DID! PRAISE THE LORD! I knew I was saved—forever secure, and headed to Heaven.
I’ve nearly died four times since then and all four times felt perfect peace, knowing my God and my destination. If you don’t know for sure you’ll go to Heaven when you die, I pray you receive the same gift: Jesus Christ, and “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” (Phil. 4:7).
Call to the Ministry
I have practically been in the ministry all my life—my father and grandfather are Baptist preachers. After getting saved at the age of 5, the Holy Spirit sparked a great desire in my heart to get to know my Savior better, and so I loved reading God’s precious words in the Holy Bible. At around the age of 10, I surrendered to preach and delivered my first sermon in church at 12-years-old from Mark chapter 2 about the man sick of the palsy: how Jesus saved him because of his faith in Jesus.
I moved to Indonesia with my parents when I was 19. Since then I’ve learned the language well, married a virtuous lady, been blessed by God with many precious children, and have had the privilege of working with my father to translate God’s Holy Bible into the Indonesian language (along with my wife, Livia, who tremendously helps to make the translation sound natural and smooth in the Indonesian language).
As with any nation, Indonesia has its problems, but God loves them just as he does the rest of the world. And He has planted a love in my heart for them—especially for my wife’s family.
Please pray God will guide me to sincere people ready to hear the gospel; that God will prepare their hearts and minds, that God will give me the wisdom and boldness to present the gospel well, and that God will be glorified with countless people getting saved, baptized, and growing in His grace!
Livia Turk’s Salvation Testimony

I was about 9-years-old, and bored at home when I “randomly” picked up a book to read, and there “just happened” to be a Gospel tract stuck inside the book that caught my attention. I read how we’re all sinners, and Jesus died on the cross for our sins. I especially remember reading, “Apakah kamu mau ke Surga ketika kamu meninggal satu saat nanti?” (Do you want to go to Heaven when you die sometime in the future?) I replied in my heart and mind, “Of course! Who wouldn’t?!” (Although, I thought that in Indonesian, not in English, of course.) So, believing with all my heart, I followed the invitation to pray and ask Jesus into my heart to save me. I was so happy because I knew Jesus came into my heart! I am happy that He is still in my heart today and always will be, and I will ever be grateful to whoever passed out that tract. I often wonder how it got in that book, but I may never know that until I get to Heaven.
Sadly, I did not grow up in a church that taught salvation by grace through faith, but instead taught works salvation, which was confusing because I knew that Jesus saved me and lived in my heart, but that is a story for another time. Thankfully, God lead Caleb into my life, I got scripturally baptized, and have been growing in the grace of God under Biblical preaching and teaching—getting around Bible-believing Baptists has helped me so much!

Statement of Faith
Summary:
I’m unapologetically saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (not of works); eternally in Jesus’ hands and unable to pluck myself out (eternally secure); baptized with the right method (immersion) and right authority (Baptist); and hold to these fundamental Bible doctrines that Baptists have held to since Jesus: independent, local and visible church (not universal invisible), God’s will is for everyone to get saved but man has free will to choose (not a Calvinist), truly local church (not part of any para-church organization like a mission board or clearing house), pre-great-tribulation, pre-millennial, the Bible is perfect (furthermore, in English the KJB is perfect just as the original texts in Hebrew and Greek are perfect [I’m not a “Critical Text” or “modern” English “bible” version sympathizer]), the original texts in Hebrew and Greek and the KJB are synonymous (not a Ruckmanite). I believe “he that winneth souls is wise”, and so I go soul winning: I do not say “One, two, three, pray after me!” or take away from the gospel, nor do I complicate or frustrate the grace of God by adding to the gospel. I believe that salvation is, and has always been (since the first man, Adam, until the passing away of this Earth), by grace through faith, not of works, and so I reject all extra-biblical writings that teach extra-biblical doctrines (I’m not Catholic or Protestant). I believe that Jesus Christ did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill. I believe that, although we have free will, we ought to submit to God’s will and authority in all areas of life, including in regards to family and the creation of life (I am pro-creation, not anti-creation; pro-life, not anti-life; God control, not birth control; suffering the little children, not forbidding them). I believe in living a separated life from the world and its ways (I’m not inter-denominational, ecumenical, or charismatic). I believe that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than mine, and so I am not able to fully comprehend everything of God and His Word, but that I must obey God anyway in faith, leaning not unto my own understanding, but trusting that God knows best (I’m not an atheist or humanist). I believe as we obey God’s Word in faith that the Holy Spirit can and often does open our understanding to the practical truth and reality of God’s Word so that our faith is true faith (which has substance and evidence), not just blind and vain belief (again, I’m not an atheist or humanist). I believe God.
I. GOD’S HOLY SCRIPTURES
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration and the verbal, plenary preservation of the Scriptures; that the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 was authored by God and written by men moved like a pen by the Holy Spirit of God so that the Scriptures were perfectly recorded, inerrant and infallible from the very first writing, and is therefore a perfect treasure of Holy instruction. Furthermore, we believe God has preserved His Word through time and translation. We believe that the Bible is our sole rule for faith and practice, is God’s Revelation to man and is the supreme and final authority in all matters of doctrine, faith and life. It is alive (quick), which makes it relevant today and in every age; but it is unchanging (settled), which makes it a trustworthy and solid foundation. The King James Bible shall be the official and only translation used by us in English, and the Kitab Kudus Terjamahan Textus Receptus (as translated by Dr. Louis A. Turk from the original texts) shall be the official and only translation used by us in Indonesian. (Psalm 12:6-7; Psalm 119:89; 1 Corinthians 2:13&16; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
II. GOD
We believe in one Triune God and that He is revealed in the unity of the Godhead, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 4:35; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:1-31; Romans 1:20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 1:1-23; 1 John 5:7&20)
III. THE PRE-EXISTENCE, DEITY, VIRGIN BIRTH, AND INCARNATION OF JESUS CHRIST
We believe that God the Son (Jesus Christ) ever existed as God with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, and that in His incarnation was physically begotten by the Father through the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and is true God and true man—Jesus is THE true God and eternal life—JEHOVAH God in the flesh. (John 1:18; 3:13; 8:58; Colossians 1:15-17; 1 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 5:20; Jeremiah 10:10; Revelation 1:1-4:11; 21:1-22:21)
IV. CREATION
We believe in the Genesis account of creation: that God created the heaven and the earth in six literal days (each day being a 24-hour period); that it was very good; that by Him all things consist; that He created all things for His own pleasure and glory, as revealed in the biblical account of creation; and that man was created in the image of God, distinct from, and eminently higher than all other creatures of this Earth. We reject the theory of evolution, the “gap” theory, the “day-age” theory, and “theistic evolution” as unscriptural. (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17; Revelation 4:11)
V. SATAN
We believe that Lucifer was perfect and good in all his ways when he was created by God as “the anointed cherub that covereth” and “son of the morning”, but he chose to sin against God and changed himself into “…the great dragon…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan…” Satan is a personal being, a fallen angel, the prince of the power of the air, the god of this world, the tempter and deceiver, the father of liars and of lies, the adversary of Christ and His people, the accuser of the brethren, whose destination is the Lake of Fire to “…be tormented day and night for ever and ever”. (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7; Isaiah 14:3-23; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Matthew 4:2-11; 25:41; John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Revelation 20:10)
VI. THE FALL OF MAN
We believe that man was created in a state of holiness, under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy and happy state; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint but choice; that man is by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, wholly given to the gratification of the world, of Satan, and of his own sinful passions, and is therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse, but not without hope so long as he liveth. (Genesis 3:6-24; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 53:6; John 3:1-21; Romans 1:18-32; 3:10-23; 5:12-21; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3)
VII. THE DEATH FOR OUR SINS, BURIAL, RESURRECTION, AND ASCENSION OF JESUS CHRIST
We believe the Gospel is “…how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen…” of hundreds of people who witnessed of those things, and that He ascended into Heaven in their sight. Being the spotless, perfect, incorruptible, sinless Lamb of God whose blood was shed, Jesus is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world; He purchased eternal redemption, eternal salvation, eternal life, which He extends to all as a free gift, but that only those who believe in Him receive the gift. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, and is our Great High Priest, Mediator, and Advocate with the Father. (Mark 16:19; John 1:29; 3:16; 20:1-31; 21:1-25; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:1-10; 7:25-28; 8:1-2; 9:11-12; 1 John 2:1-2)
VIII. SALVATION
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the LORD Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, and is a free choice for “whosoever” chooses to trust in Christ. (John 1:12-13; 3:16; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:17-21)
IX. ETERNAL SECURITY
We believe that salvation is an eternal state, that once received cannot be lost; that all believers are kept securely in the hands of Jesus Christ and God the Father; and we are persuaded that He is able to keep that which we’ve committed unto Him against that day. (John 3:16; 5:24; 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:35-39; Ephesians 4:30; Philippians 1:6; 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 Peter 1:3-5)
X. ASSURANCE AND LIBERTY
We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word; which, however, also clearly forbids the use of liberty as an occasion to the flesh or a cloak of maliciousness. (1 John 5:13; Psalm 35:9; Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15; 2 Peter 2:16)
XI. TWO NATURES OF THE BELIEVER
We believe that every saved person possesses two natures with provision made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit as the believer submits and conforms to God’s Word; and that all claims to the eradication of the old nature in this life are unscriptural. (Romans 6:11-14; 7:7-25; 8:1-17; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 4:17-32; Colossians 3:10; 1 Peter 1:13-16; 1 John 3:1-10)
XII. THE CHURCH
We believe that a scriptural church is a visible, local, called out body of baptized believers who assemble together to go into all the world to carry out the great commission as Jesus Christ has commanded the church to do. Jesus Christ Himself founded the church of the New Testament during His personal ministry on Earth, and it is composed solely of baptized believers. Christ, glorified in Heaven, is its Head; and the Holy Spirit, on Earth, is the active agent of the Godhead Who ever seeks to bring about conformity within its ranks, and obedience to the Word of God and the will of God (Matthew 16:18; Mark 3:13-14; Luke 6:12-16; 1 Corinthians 12:28). The church unites believers to each other, and all to Christ, and its chief purpose of existence is to proclaim the Gospel to the world. We believe in the perpetuity (“the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”) of the church; that there have been New Testament churches on the earth since the Lord Jesus Christ’s personal, earthly ministry and that they will continue to be here until He returns. A local church is to observe the ordinances Christ has placed in the church and maintain discipline within the body (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 13:1-4). Its only proper officers are pastors, and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. Each local church is autonomous, recognizing Jesus only as her Head, and the Bible only as her rule for faith and practice. The church is the pillar and the ground of truth. The church is the house of the living God. (Matthew 16:18; 18:17a; 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2:1-47; 15:14; Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 5:23-27; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 3:15)
XIII. BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER
We believe that there are two ordinances given by Jesus to the local church that believers are commanded to observe as administered by ordained ministers of the local church, namely, water Baptism and the LORD’s Supper. While recognizing that water baptism has no saving merit, it is our conviction that after one is saved, baptism is the next step in order to portray to the world the believer’s union with Christ in His death for our sins, burial and resurrection. It is Biblical and linguistic FACT that baptism is immersion. It is symbolic of one’s faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership. We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the LORD’s Supper to commemorate His death until He comes, through the sacred use of breaking of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, symbolic of our LORD’s sacrifice of His body and His blood for our salvation. It also commemorates His promise to return and receive us unto Himself. It should always be preceded by solemn self-examination. It is to be administered only by the authority of a local New Testament church and is to only be partaken of by those who are members of that local church who are living in obedience to Christ. Each believer is to “examine himself” to be sure he is in accordance with the Scriptures concerning this local church ordinance. We further believe that water Baptism by immersion is observed once, after salvation, and is a sign of identification, and a testimony to newness of life, but the LORD’s Supper is commemorative and is to be observed on a regular recurring basis directed by the pastor as a memorial of the broken body and the shed blood of our LORD Jesus Christ. Only New Testament churches (not individuals) have been given divine authority to administer these ordinances, and both of them are to be observed under the auspices of local, visible New Testament churches. (Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)
XIV. MISSIONS
We believe that God has given the church the Great Commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the LORD Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. (Mathew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20)
XV. SEPARATION AND SANCTIFICATION
We believe that the Scripture clearly teaches non-conformity to the world for every believer; that born-again people should be separated from the world and unto Christ; that it is clearly commanded by God to all believers to live godly lives of separation from all worldly and sinful practices and to be holy as He is holy. We believe that positional sanctification occurs at the moment of regeneration and that practical sanctification is to be progressive throughout the entire life span of a believer here on Earth. God’s provision for holy living is in the believer’s identification with Christ in His death for our sins, burial, resurrection and ascension; the indwelling person and power of the Holy Spirit and the believer’s yieldedness to Him; and by the powerful Word of God. (John 17:17; Romans 6:1-14; 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 6:14-18; 7:1; Galatians 5:16-26; Ephesians 2:1-10; 5:25-27; Colossians 1:13; 3:1-25; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 4:12; 10:1-18; 13:1-19; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 2 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11)
XVI. MEN AND WOMEN
We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:20-25; Romans 7:2-3; 1 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23)
We believe that men and women are spiritually equal in position before God, but that God has created distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and church. The husband is to be the leader of the home and men are to be the leaders (pastors and deacons) of the church. Accordingly, only men may be deacons and pastors and are eligible for licensure and ordination by the church. (Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:18-19; 1 Timothy 2:8-15; 3:1-16; 1 Corinthians 14:34-35)
We believe that the marriage bed is blessed of God for a man to “know” his wife as intended and instructed in the Holy Bible; God has commanded that no intimate intercourse be engaged outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that all sodomy, including homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, pornography, pedophilia, rape, contraceptive use, and all other manner of unnatural and perverted types of intercourses are forbidden by God. (Genesis 2:23-25; 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4; Genesis 38:8-10)
XVII. LIFE
We believe that God alone is the giver of life and He alone is to control who is created. For anyone to try to wrest that control from God is akin to Lucifer trying to sit on God’s throne—prideful and wicked. Married couples are to choose life and be pro-creation (not anti-creation), which means that they come together naturally without contraceptive devices or methods, submitting in faith and trust to God’s will, God’s wisdom, and God’s control over the creation of life and their family. We are to welcome children into creation and guide them to Jesus, not forbid them from ever being conceived. We are to joyfully and thankfully accept God’s blessings, not reject them. (Luke 23:28-29; Genesis 2:7; Acts 17:24-28; Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13-16; Genesis 29:31-35; 30:1-2, 17, 22-23; 1 Samuel 1:1-20; Isaiah 49:1; 66:9; Psalm 127:3-5; 128:3-4; 113:9; Proverbs 17:6; Genesis 1:28; 9:1; 24:60; Isaiah 14:12-14; Proverbs 16:18; James 1:17; Matthew 18:5-6; 19:14; Mark 10:14; Luke 18:16; Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 30:19)
XVIII. HEAVEN, HELL, RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
We believe in a literal Hell, originally prepared for the devil and his angels where, immediately after their death, the unsaved will suffer irreversible separation from God and fiery punishment until the resurrection of the lost, at which time their souls will be reunited with their bodies, and they will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment by Jesus Christ whom they refused to receive as LORD and Savior and must then face as their Judge. After this they will be cast in a state of consciousness into the Lake of Fire where they will remain forever in torment.
We also believe in a literal Heaven, where the saved, those who receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, go immediately upon death into the presence of the LORD to enjoy the comforts that He has prepared for all of the redeemed, whose bodies will at the Rapture be resurrected and reunited with their souls “and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:50-58; 2 Corinthians 5:6-10; Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 16:19-31; John 14:1-7; 1 Peter 1:3-4; Hebrews 12:22-24; Revelation 14:13; Psalm 16:11; Philippians 1:21-23; Psalm 9:16-17; John 8:24; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:10-15)
XIX. PREDESTINATION AND ELECTION
“God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2:3-4), knew that man would sin and deserve Hell, yet God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (1 Pet 3:9), therefore “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son” (John 3:16), Jesus Christ the “Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Rev 13:8) “Who gave himself a ransom for all” (1 Tim 2:6) to “die for all” (2 Cor 5:14-15) and draws “all men” unto himself (John 12:32) that “whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) And “so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” (Rom 5:18) However, being a free gift, all have free will to choose to accept or reject the Savior and the gift: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13)
XX. OUR LORD’S SECOND ADVENT AND MILLENNIAL KINGDOM
We believe in the blessed hope, the personal, pre-millennial, pre-great-tribulation, and imminent return of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, when He shall rapture God’s children out of this world to ever be with Him. We also believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Christ to the Earth at the end of the Great Tribulation, to physically establish His one thousand year rule as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS over all the Earth. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 14:1-4; Revelation 19:11-21; 20:1-6; 22:20)
XXI. AUTHORITY OF STATEMENT OF FAITH
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Word of God is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the doctrines of the Holy Scriptures and is therefore binding upon us.
